Planning a business trip?
If your personnel or human resources department don’t organise it for you then, as a business traveller, you are going to have to arrange your own insurance. Most travel insurance policies are aimed at holiday makers and are not tailored for the needs of the business traveller. You need to find a policy specifically designed for the business traveller or at least with a business travel option.

In addition to the standard cancellation cover included in many standard travel insurance policies, business travel insurance may include emergency replacement by a business colleague. So if you are unable to make the trip through one of the eventualities covered by the policy then the additional cost of sending a colleague to stand in for you can be claimed for.

Business equipment including Laptop computers and PDAs may be specifically covered. Check on the financial limits for these and any requirements for security and backup. Also check to see what consequential loss cover (if any) is included.
