Over 65s Travel Insurance

Unfortunately as we get older the chances of us falling ill increase. There is therefore an increased risk of expensive medical treatment while you are on holiday and many travel insurance policies are not set up to cope with this risk. Fortunately a few companies have taken the trouble to try to understand the nature of the risk involved and offer policies either specifically aimed at older people or take a more enlightened view to the risk that older people pose.

Policies are available for older travellers but as you get into your 70s and 80s it is increasingly difficult to find cover and particularly for longer stays abroad.

IMPORTANT! It is always important with any kind of insurance that you make a full and honest disclosure of factors that may affect your cover. It is particularly important to disclose any pre-existing medical conditions that you have. If you are only offered insurance excluding a pre-existing condition you need to be very careful when making the decision to travel and be aware of the potential costs should your condition flare up while you are away. If in doubt you may have to make the decision to stay at home. If you are travelling to the EU or certain other countries with which our Government has made reciprocal agreements you may have limited cover for your pre-existing condition.
